Capturing 25 Years of Leadership: A Photographic Journey Through Londons Mayoral Milestones

This month marks the 25th anniversary of the election of London’s inaugural mayor.

Throughout this period, three individuals have occupied the role. Ken Livingstone first took office in 2000 as an independent, later securing a victory for Labour in the 2004 elections.

In 2008, he was unseated for a third term by Boris Johnson from the Conservative Party, who then served two terms before being followed in 2016 by the current mayor, Labour’s Sadiq Khan.

One common trait shared by these three mayors is their knack for capitalizing on photo opportunities.

In honor of 25 years of mayorship in London, here are some iconic photographs.
