Former Police Cadet Leader Convicted of Sexual Assault Against Teenagers; Met Police Vows to Strengthen Safeguarding Measures

A Metropolitan Police officer who committed offenses against a teenage boy while acting as a leader for police cadets has been found guilty of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.

The incidents involving Grant Fulker, previously a police constable, occurred in a hotel room at Heathrow in February 2024, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The 32-year-old was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Friday. He had already admitted to three charges of misconduct in public office for sending inappropriate messages to the victim and another adolescent boy.

Fulker was apprehended in February 2024 and was dismissed through an accelerated misconduct hearing shortly thereafter, as reported by the Met.

Commander Pete Stevens condemned Fulker’s actions as “deplorable,” stating that he “exploited his trusted position as a cadet leader to take advantage of these young individuals in an utterly reprehensible manner.”

In response to the allegations, the Metropolitan Police conducted a review of all volunteer police cadet programs across London to ensure adherence to safeguarding protocols.

Fulker has been added to the College of Policing’s barred list, prohibiting him from engaging in any future police-related work.

Sentencing for Fulker is scheduled for February 27.
