Last week, Russia facilitated the return of 60 Ukrainian citizens, including individuals facing deportation and those with disabilities, according to Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova, who made this announcement on Monday.

Ukrainian officials had previously disclosed the return of their nationals on the same day the exchange was executed, which was last Tuesday.

Moskalkova added that 15 Russian citizens were also brought back from Ukraine, indicating that the transfer occurred at the border between Belarus and Ukraine.

She reported that 45 of the Ukrainians had been detained in temporary detention facilities for foreigners and were at risk of deportation, having expressed a desire to return to Ukraine.

Additionally, 15 individuals were safely evacuated from the Russian-occupied Kherson region of southern Ukraine, a task Moskalkova described as challenging due to ongoing shelling.

Ukrainian human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets mentioned last Tuesday that most of the 15 individuals from Kherson had mobility challenges. He characterized the exchange as a reunion for families that had been apart for years.

“Today, a mother and daughter will meet each other for the first time in nearly four years,” Lubinets shared on Telegram.

Furthermore, he indicated that he and Moskalkova had exchanged lists of missing individuals, which included civilians who vanished under dubious circumstances, as well as lists of the wounded and critically ill civilians, along with unlawfully detained persons.

Moskalkova stated that this exchange led to the reunification of 22 families from both nations, labeling it as a humanitarian endeavor.
