A reward of £20,000 has been made available for information regarding the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man in north London, which authorities suspect was a case of mistaken identity.
Mahad Abdi Mohammed was shot in the head on Waverley Road in Tottenham on March 20th at 20:45 GMT. A 26-year-old friend who was with him sustained a leg injury, which was not life-threatening.
The Metropolitan Police has released images of two individuals that they wish to speak with concerning this incident.
Mr. Mohammed’s youngest sister expressed a plea: “If you know anything and haven’t come forward yet, please reconsider. Think about a family that cannot begin to heal while the truth remains concealed. My brother deserves justice.”
On the evening of the shooting, Mr. Mohammed and his friend were outside breaking their fast when a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander approached, and the assailants opened fire, hitting both men multiple times, according to the Metropolitan Police.
This vehicle was used to transport the suspects to and from the scene, and it was discovered burnt out the next morning.
Detectives believe that a stolen blue Jaguar was also involved in transporting the suspects to and from the Mitsubishi utilized in the shooting.
The police suspect that the assailants intended to target someone else, marking the incident as a premeditated attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford stated: “The close-knit community in Tottenham is bearing the painful effects of gun violence. There is someone out there who possesses knowledge about that evening, and we are urging those individuals to come forward.”
She added, “No piece of information is too insignificant; please contact us. It might be precisely what we need to identify those responsible.”
Crimestoppers is offering the reward for any information that it receives confidentially, leading to the conviction of those involved.
Mr. Mohammed’s sister emphasized that her brother, who had a young son, deserved justice.
“Remaining silent is an act of complicity,” she stated. “To stay silent is to allow a grieving mother to remain in confusion. To remain silent is to subject a little boy to grow up without understanding what happened to his father.”
Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder in March and April, questioned, and later released on bail while investigations continue.
The police inquiry is ongoing.
