Ignashevich Declares Akinfeev the Best Russian Goalkeeper of His Time

Former Russia national team and CSKA Moscow defender **Sergei Ignashevich** addressed whether he considers the team’s goalkeeper **Igor Akinfeev** to be the best Russian keeper at present.

“I believe so. Even though there are goalkeepers like Matvei Safonov, Stanislav Agkatsev, and others, Akinfeev’s skill enables him to perform at the highest level, even at his age,” said Ignashevich, as reported by Match TV.

In the current season, the 39-year-old Akinfeev has played in 25 matches across all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in 11 of them. The player’s contract with the club is valid until the summer of 2026. According to the information on Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at €1 million.

He is the first Russian to win the UEFA Cup:
