A man has been arrested on charges of murder and robbery following the death of an 87-year-old in north London.

Emergency services responded to a call on Goodchild Road in Manor House around 18:00 BST on Tuesday, where they discovered the elderly victim, who was subsequently taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Peter Augustine, 58, residing in Hornsey, was taken into custody on Thursday.

He has been remanded in custody after his appearance at Willesden Magistrates’ Court and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on May 13.

Although the victim has not been officially identified, the Metropolitan Police are providing support to his next of kin, as stated by the officers.

The police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
