Vesnina Identifies Mirra Andreyeva as a Top Contender for Roland Garros 2025

Olympic champion Elena Vesnina has identified the key favorites for the women’s draw at Roland Garros 2025.

“The primary contenders for the women’s tournament currently include Sabalenka, Gauff, Paolini, and Mirra, given a favorable situation and an even draw. Of course, it also depends on how well she can handle the psychological pressure. It’s too early to assign her any titles or trophies, but it’s clear that Mirra is among the favorites. Sabalenka stands out as a more prominent frontrunner, followed by Gauff, Paolini, and Pegula as well.

We shouldn’t overlook Chinese player Zheng Qinwen, who won the Olympics here a year ago. She enjoys playing on this surface and is skilled on clay. Also noteworthy is Elina Svitolina, who is currently performing exceptionally well. The draw appears quite open for the girls right now, especially since Mirra has already achieved significant victories in Indian Wells and Dubai. For me, future Grand Slam champions are often indicated by their wins against top players. Mirra has wins against Swiatek, Sabalenka, Paolini, Pegula, and Rybakina, with the only exception being Coco Gauff. In any case, these victories provide a solid foundation to build on. From there, we’ll see how it unfolds,” Vesnina told Championship correspondent Artem Taimanov.
