Four-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen from Red Bull has criticized the FIA regarding the use of cooling vests. At the Singapore Grand Prix, drivers are required to either wear a cooling vest or add a ballast weighing 0.5 kg to their cars.
“It doesn’t bother me much, because it gets hot anyway. Sweating a little is normal, and the cooling vest heats up after 15-20 minutes, so it’s not effective. Making the vest mandatory next season? I completely disagree with that. It’s absurd. We need to discuss this.
Ultimately, it’s about our own safety, regardless of how you feel about it. I don’t think they should impose this on us,” Verstappen’s comments were reported by Racingnews365.
