Unais Transfer to Spartak Falls Through: Player Prefers More Ambitious Challenge

The full details regarding the failed transfer of **Azzedine Ounahi** from Marseille to Spartak have become clear. Previously, there were rumors suggesting that the parties were close to finalizing the deal.

According to Footmercato, Marseille does not foresee a future for the Moroccan player and is actively seeking a way to transfer him to another club. Spartak made an offer of €12 million for the 25-year-old, which the French club accepted; the only remaining step was to secure the player’s consent.

Spartak proposed an annual salary of €2.5 million to Ounahi, a lucrative offer considering his current contract terms with Marseille. However, the player is not eager to play in Russia as he aspires to take on a more ambitious sporting challenge. As a result, he declined Spartak’s proposal.

This decision has caused complications for Marseille, which was counting on selling the player to Spartak, as the Moscow club assured them that they could pay for the transfer in a lump sum. The French club was in need of these funds.

In the last season, the Moroccan national team player was on loan at the Greek club Panathinaikos, where he made 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. According to information on the Transfermarkt website, Ounahi’s market value stands at €10 million.
