Overnight drone strikes by Ukraine in the Kursk and Voronezh regions led to fires in residential areas and caused disruptions on a key highway, as reported by regional authorities early Monday morning.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that air defense units intercepted a total of 162 Ukrainian drones during the night, with 57 of those being shot down over the Kursk region.

According to Acting Kursk Governor Alexander Khinshtein, debris from the downed drones ignited fires in several homes and resulted in damage to private apartments.

In the Voronezh region, where Russian air defenses reportedly intercepted 16 Ukrainian drones, Governor Alexander Gusev noted that drone wreckage fell onto power lines, causing them to collapse onto the M-4 highway.

Gusev mentioned that a small stretch of the highway, which connects Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, and Krasnodar, was shut down because of these incidents. Additionally, debris from the drones caused damage to the exteriors of several residential buildings.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in either region.

These attacks occur as Russian and Ukrainian representatives prepare for a second round of renewed peace negotiations in Istanbul.
