Ukrainian Drone Collision with Ryazan High-Rise Leaves Two Injured in Alleged Terrorist Attack

Two individuals sustained injuries when a Ukrainian drone collided with a high-rise residential building in Ryazan, local officials reported on Friday morning.

Pavel Malkov, the Governor of the Ryazan region, characterized the incident as a “terrorist attack” and noted damage to the exteriors of two apartment buildings. He mentioned that one of these buildings, which had recently been completed, was unoccupied at the time.

Malkov further stated that the two people who were hurt from the drone incident did not require hospitalization.

As reported by the exiled media outlet Astra, the damaged apartments are located within the Otkritye residential complex in Ryazan. Astra referenced video and photographic evidence from witnesses, indicating that at least one drone hit the 18th floor of a 26-story building.

In addition to the damage to the apartments, Malkov mentioned that drone wreckage also fell at a nearby industrial facility, although he did not specify which enterprise it was.

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that its air defense systems had successfully shot down 22 Ukrainian drones over the Ryazan region during the night. Overall, military sources claimed that 106 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across nine regions in Russia, including annexed Crimea.

The Ryazan region, which is situated approximately 185 kilometers (115 miles) southeast of Moscow, has been frequently targeted by Ukrainian drone attacks since the start of the full-scale invasion. Last year, several drone strikes hit a Rosneft oil refinery in Ryazan, one of the largest in the country.
