Trial Unfolds as Man Testifies in Gruesome Double Murder and Dismemberment Case

A man charged with the murder and dismemberment of a couple, who allegedly transported their remains in a suitcase for disposal, has commenced his testimony in court.

Yostin Mosquera, 35, pleads not guilty to the murders of Paul Longsworth and Albert Alfonso at their residence in London.

The Colombian national took the stand at Woolwich Crown Court, dressed in a white shirt, blue jeans, and wearing rosary beads.

He had previously acknowledged the manslaughter of Mr. Alfonso, 62, citing a loss of self-control.

Mr. Mosquera faces accusations of murdering Mr. Alfonso by fatally stabbing him during a recorded sexual encounter at a flat in Shepherd’s Bush on July 8, 2024.

Additionally, he is charged with killing Mr. Longworth, 71, with a hammer earlier on the same day and subsequently concealing his body in a divan bed.

The court has heard that he later dismembered the victims’ bodies and transported them to Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge in an attempt to dispose of the remains.

As the defense case commenced, Mr. Mosquera recounted that he initially connected with Mr. Alfonso online in 2012.

He informed the jury that Mr. Alfonso began compensating him to create and send videos of himself engaging in sexual acts.

According to him, the nature of the requested acts became increasingly extreme over time.

The jury was also told that Mr. Alfonso traveled to Colombia in 2022, where he compensated Mr. Mosquera with £59 ($80) to perform sexual acts in his presence.

He stated that he then visited the couple in London in October 2023, continuing to perform sexual acts on Mr. Alfonso.

Mr. Mosquera claimed these acts were done against his will, as Mr. Alfonso had promised to assist in financing an English course for him.

However, he revealed that he did not receive any payment; instead, Mr. Alfonso gifted him an air fryer to take home to his mother.

The trial is ongoing.
