A murder probe has been initiated following the death of an 18-year-old male after a shooting incident in north London.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were dispatched at 20:45 BST on Thursday after reports of gunfire on Great Cambridge Road in Enfield.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the individual was discovered with gunshot wounds and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
At this preliminary stage, no arrests have been made, as stated by the police.
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines announced that there will be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of a young life last night,” she remarked. “My thoughts are with his family and friends who are grappling with this news today.”
“We aim to reassure the local community that this seems to be an isolated event, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.”
A crime scene has been established, and Great Cambridge Road will remain closed while investigations proceed.
