Tragic Flat Fire Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy in South-East London

A 12-year-old boy has tragically lost his life in a fire at an apartment in south-east London, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.

Authorities received a call regarding the incident on Lewisham Road, SE13, around 23:55 BST on Tuesday night.

Police arrived at the scene alongside the London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service. Unfortunately, the boy was declared dead on-site, according to the Metropolitan Police.

A 54-year-old woman was transported to the hospital by paramedics, though her injuries are not currently deemed to be life-threatening or life-altering.

The boy’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Danian Reid stated, “We realize how deeply this will affect the community, and local neighborhood officers, along with other emergency personnel, will be present as investigations are carried out.”

The police are assisting the London Fire Brigade (LFB) with their inquiry.

Although the LFB is probing the cause of the fire, there are no indications at this time that it was suspicious.
