Topuria and Oliveira: Contenders for the Vacant UFC Lightweight Title While Makhachev Moves Up

**Ali Abdel-Aziz**, who is the manager of UFC lightweight champion **Islam Makhachev**, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Spanish-Georgian fighter **Ilia Topuria** and Brazilian **Charles Oliveira** for the vacant UFC lightweight title.

“I didn’t intend to say much on this topic, but it seems people are reluctant to think critically. Makhachev will always be the champion at lightweight. These two guys are just fighting for the Burger King title. It is what it is,” Abdel-Aziz posted on his social media.

On the night of May 13-14, it was announced that Islam Makhachev would officially move up to welterweight, leaving the UFC lightweight championship vacant. Ilia and Charles will compete for the UFC champion title in the up-to-70 kg category at UFC 317, scheduled for June 29 in Paradise, Nevada, USA.
