Take a Break: UFC Hall of Famers Advice to Alex Pereira

UFC Hall of Famer and legendary fighter from the past, **Don Frye**, has shared his thoughts regarding former UFC champion in two weight classes, **Alex Pereira**.

“If you’re injured, take a break and heal up. I never did that—I would pop pills and step into the ring while nursing injuries. That led to my career going off track. It turns out the promoter doesn’t care. They don’t give a damn about you. I never received a single card on Christmas or my birthday from any promoter. I earned a lot of money in both the UFC and Pride, but I nearly died in the hospital several times, and nobody ever bothered to check on how I was doing,” Frye stated, as reported by MMA Fighting.

For reference, Pereira’s most recent fight took place in March 2025 against Russia’s Magomed Ankalaev, where he lost the UFC light heavyweight title.
