Scherbakova: Embracing Life Beyond the Ice, Coaching Not in My Plans

The Olympic champion in ladies’ singles figure skating in 2022, Anna Shcherbakova, stated that she does not plan to become a coach.

“I’m currently studying to become a coach, but I can’t say I have any specific intentions regarding that career. I conduct master classes and have led training camps a few times.

In my current lifestyle, I don’t envision myself as a coach because after being immersed in figure skating 24/7 during my sports career, so much new has opened up to me now. I want to try everything, explore what life is like outside of the rink, and all of this is incredibly exciting.

At this moment, I can’t imagine shutting myself off on the ice again, as the job of a coach is similar to the path of an athlete, but with many, many athletes. You need to experience each journey with them.

I feel that right now, I am not ready to dive back into that world. Perhaps I might consider it in the future, and I’m not ruling it out, but as of now, it’s not on my agenda,” Shcherbakova was quoted by TASS.
