Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s top economic representative, held discussions with U.S. officials in Florida on Saturday, as reported by a source familiar with the situation.
“The discussions commenced early at 8 a.m. EST,” the source informed AFP, requesting anonymity.
Earlier, Dmitriev had mentioned on social media that he was “back in Miami,” though he did not provide further details.
The identities of the U.S. officials who attended the meeting remain unclear.
This meeting took place just one day before negotiators from Ukraine and Russia were set to convene in Abu Dhabi to consider a U.S.-endorsed proposal aimed at resolving the nearly four-year conflict in Ukraine.
According to Kyiv, Washington claims that both parties are nearing an agreement, yet they have yet to reach a compromise on the critical issue of territory in any potential post-war arrangement.
