The Russian Defense Ministry announced early Thursday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted 85 Ukrainian drones overnight into the morning.
Initially, the military reported the destruction of 81 drones between Wednesday evening and 6:40 a.m. Moscow time, later revising this number to include four additional drones that were intercepted over the regions of Rostov and Tula, as well as in annexed Crimea.
There were no reports of damage or injuries during these incidents.
Approximately half of the drones targeted the Bryansk and Kursk regions, which are located near the Ukrainian border. Local officials noted some minor damage but confirmed that there were no injuries or fatalities.
As a precaution, airports in Volgograd, Saratov, and Kaluga temporarily halted flights during the drone strikes.
In a separate report, Ukraine’s Air Force claimed to have downed 88 out of 104 Russian drones that were launched overnight.
