Russell Reflects on Illness: If It Were Singapore, I Would Have Finished My Weekend on Friday

Mercedes driver George Russell spoke about the illness he faced during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend. Despite this, the British racer managed to secure a second-place finish in the race.

“Fortunately, it was Baku. Although it is one of the most challenging circuits, in terms of mental and physical demands, it’s arguably one of the easier ones. I found it very tough on Friday and Saturday. If it had been Singapore, to be honest, I think I would have already ended my weekend by Friday. So, in a way, the timing was somewhat lucky. Honestly, I haven’t been sick for a couple of years, so all of this came at once for me lately, but I’m feeling better now,” Russell shared, as reported by RaceFans.

It’s worth noting that the race was won by four-time world champion Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull.
