Poland Blocks Export of Boeing Tires to Russia Amid Ongoing Sanctions

Polish customs authorities confiscated five metric tons of tires intended for civilian Boeing airplanes that were being transported to Russia via Belarus, as reported by the National Revenue Administration (NRA) on Monday.

“During an inspection of a truck in Koroszczyn, officials discovered that the driver was carrying tires meant for Boeing civil aircraft, instead of the declared car and bus tires,” the NRA stated.

Koroszczyn is situated on Poland’s eastern border, adjacent to the Belarusian city of Brest.

“The goods were sent by a company based in Spain, while the recipient was located in Azerbaijan. In connection with customs fraud, criminal fiscal proceedings have been initiated. The prohibited items were seized,” it further explained.

In response to President Vladimir Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Western nations have imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russia. Additionally, numerous foreign businesses have exited the Russian market.

Despite these sanctions, Moscow has reportedly been able to obtain essential goods and technology, sometimes for military applications, according to media sources.
