On the Brink of Glory: Matvey Safonovs Ambition to Win the Champions League with PSG

The press office of the Russian Premier League has reached out to PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, who stated last summer his ambition to win the Champions League with the Parisian club. This was shared by the Russian footballer in an interview with journalist Nobel Arustamyan.

“The goal is now very close. Will it happen on May 31?” reads a message from the RPL press service, which was published on the organization’s Telegram channel.

To recall, the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between PSG and Arsenal took place the day before, on May 7. The match was held at the Parc des Princes in Paris, where the home team secured a 2-1 victory. Consequently, PSG advanced to the tournament final. Earlier, Inter earned their place in the final by overcoming Barcelona. Safonov has been with PSG since the summer of last year and has played two matches in the Champions League for the 2024/2025 season against Girona and Bayern Munich.
