NHL Insider: Panarins Reluctance to Compromise Complicates Rangers Contract Talks

Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos has reported that Artemi Panarin’s reluctance to take a pay cut is significantly complicating contract negotiations with the New York Rangers. The team might trade the Russian forward before the end of the season. The 33-year-old’s current deal with the Rangers runs until June 30, 2026, with a cap hit of $11.64 million.

“He isn’t interested in reducing his salary, which limits his bargaining options. The Rangers are not willing to offer him the same salary in a new contract. There have been rumors linking Panarin to both Carolina and Minnesota,” Kypreos stated, as quoted by Sportsnet.

So far this season, Panarin has scored two goals and provided five assists in 14 games.
