Four individuals have been apprehended following an incident where a group of masked assailants entered a vehicle and made off with mobile phones, a watch estimated to be worth around £450,000, and cryptocurrency valued at approximately £1.1 million.

On the afternoon of November 4, two men and three women were in their car in Oxford when the masked intruders entered the vehicle. They compelled one of the victims to transfer cryptocurrency from their account. After about 30 minutes, the suspects exited the vehicle in the Five Mile Drive vicinity of the city.

Thames Valley Police reported that a “complex” investigation ensued, leading officers to execute search warrants and take four men into custody on charges including robbery and kidnapping.

Detective Sergeant Stuart McMaster stated, “Thames Valley Police has been engaged in a comprehensive investigation into these crimes. This has encompassed house-to-house inquiries, analysis of CCTV, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), digital forensics, as well as inquiries into cryptocurrency and financial records. We have carried out warrants in London and Birmingham and made arrests in Kent, resulting in the detention of four men.”

The identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.

Authorities are requesting any available footage or witnesses concerning a black BMW saloon car, a blue Hyundai Ioniq, or a silver Mercedes Benz Vito in the vicinity of Yarnton Road and Sandy Lane, situated between Kidlington and Yarnton. They are also looking for information about these vehicles in Five Mile Drive, Carey Close, Rotherfield Road, and Kirk Close in Oxford, specifically between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM on the day of the heist.
