For several decades, collecting Panini football stickers has been a cherished aspect of football culture, and now enthusiasts can acquire stickers featuring players from the Women’s Super League 2 (WSL 2).

Among the initial players featured in these stickers are Katie Bradley and Jodie Hutton from Charlton Athletic.

Bradley shared with BBC London, “When I was a kid, I collected stickers, but they were only men’s ones. It’s great to see women’s stickers being introduced, especially from the second tier.”

Hutton remarked, “Having a shiny sticker is always a treat because that’s what everyone wants, right?”

Panini launched its inaugural sticker album in 1970, focusing exclusively on the men’s game for more than 50 years.

In 2023, the company expanded to include its first women’s football stickers for the WSL, and the inclusion of WSL 2 clubs is celebrated as a sign of the sport’s growth.

Currently, there are 66 WSL 2 stickers available, with plans for that number to rise in upcoming editions.

When asked if her childhood self, who loved collecting football stickers, would have believed she’d someday be featured on one, Hutton responded: “Not at all. I probably would have thought that was unlikely.”

She added, “But it’s wonderful to receive this recognition for women’s football and to illustrate the advancement and direction the sport is taking.”

In addition to their sticker collection, Charlton is also racking up points on the field. They currently hold the top position in the league and have a solid opportunity for promotion this season, where as many as three teams could ascend.

Bradley expressed, “Our primary goal is to win the league and secure promotion that way. But it’s also exciting for the league itself, as it creates a thrilling battle for second and third places that could very well go down to the wire.”

She concluded, “This will definitely draw more attention to the league.”
