Approximately 100 firefighters are currently battling a fire at a restaurant located in the former Television Centre of the BBC in west London.

According to the London Fire Brigade, 15 fire engines have been deployed to the nine-story structure on Wood Lane in White City, where the blaze erupted in the early hours of Saturday morning.

This building accommodates a restaurant, residential flats, and television studios. Officials reported that an undisclosed number of residences were impacted and that evacuations had taken place.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and there have been no reports of injuries.

Isabela Brooker, a resident on the seventh floor, recounted that she and her eight-and-a-half-month-old son, Rafael, were evacuated around 04:30 BST.

“We heard a knock at the door, and it was the fire brigade advising us to leave,” she stated. “The corridor was filled with smoke—it was terrifying. We left everything behind and found ourselves down here in our pajamas. I don’t have any diapers or essentials.”

The London Fire Brigade reported that they received the call shortly after 03:00 BST, with assistance from crews in Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, and Chiswick.

Two large turntable ladders are being utilized to combat the fire from an elevated position.

In an update released at 08:00, the LFB noted that the restaurant, exterior decking, and ducting were still ablaze.

“The brigade is collaborating with various agencies, including the Metropolitan Police, to evacuate nearby buildings as a safety measure,” their statement indicated.

“A rest center is being established for those displaced from their homes.

“Wood Lane is currently closed to traffic, and the public is urged to steer clear of the area as the situation is expected to continue for some time.”
