Fans heading to Wembley for the Championship play-off final were alerted to potential delays and cancellations stemming from a series of train issues.
On Saturday morning, LNER announced that they were facing “significant disruption” to their services due to multiple trains needing repairs along the East Coast Main Line.
This afternoon, Sheffield United and Sunderland are vying for a spot in the Premier League, with the match set to begin at Wembley at 15:01 BST.
In a 13:00 update, LNER indicated that while some journeys had been cancelled due to the issues, most services were now operating without significant problems.
The affected routes include LNER services connecting Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Harrogate, Leeds, Bradford Forster Square, Skipton, Hull, Lincoln, and London King’s Cross.
Additionally, Lumo services between Edinburgh and King’s Cross are also being impacted.
Travelers on cancelled routes can board any LNER service, according to the company, or utilize their tickets on lines run by other train operators.
Earlier this week, Sheffield United supporters had also been cautioned about scheduled engineering work over the bank holiday that would affect their travel plans.
