A 16-year-old boy has been indicted for manslaughter in connection with the tragic death of a teenage girl in a suspected arson incident at a residential block in east London nearly three years ago.

Fifteen-year-old Tiffany Regis succumbed to smoke inhalation after a fire erupted in a second-floor apartment on Tollgate Road, Beckton, on April 6, 2023.

The youth, who received the charges on Tuesday, is also facing accusations of arson and of committing arson with disregard for human life.

He has been granted bail and is set to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on February 24.

According to the Metropolitan Police, several individuals were present in the flat when the fire broke out around 5:30 PM BST.

Five others sustained injuries but were later released from the hospital.
