A former vocalist of Spandau Ballet has been convicted of rape and attempted rape.
Ross Davidson, who performed under the name Ross Wild, gained fame with the 80s band Spandau Ballet and also appeared in the Queen-inspired West End production We Will Rock You in 2018.
The 37-year-old, residing in Finchley, north London, had entered a plea of not guilty concerning the rape of a woman in London in March 2015. He also refuted charges of attempted rape and sexual assault involving another woman in Thailand in December 2019.
After deliberating for over 11 hours, jurors at Wood Green Crown Court found him guilty on all counts.
Prosecutor Richard Hearnden remarked that Davidson was perceived as “a bit of a sex symbol,” but the two victims eventually discovered “a much darker side that they did not initially recognize.”
In addition to his recent convictions, Davidson had previously pleaded guilty in December 2019 to voyeurism for secretly recording the woman in Thailand while she slept.
