A new exhibition is set to showcase the original artworks of singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
The pop icon ventured into the realm of painting in 2019, sharing that he has had a passion for art since his school days in Suffolk.
Last year, between performances, he produced several pieces in an abandoned car park in London. This led to the suggestion of holding an exhibition at the Heni Gallery in Soho, which will run until August.
“I began painting after wrapping up my Divide Tour in 2019, and it has served as a creative release for me ever since,” Sheeran revealed.
“Growing up, both of my parents were involved in art, so I’ve always had a keen interest in it, and I enjoyed my art studies at school.”
During his UK tour last year, he utilized much of his free time to create.
“Each morning, I would dash to a vacant car park in Soho to paint before returning home, and I maintained this routine until tour took me away again.”
The exhibition, titled Cosmic Carpark Paintings, is free to enter, requiring no prior appointment.
The new artworks draw inspiration from celestial designs, reflecting Sheeran’s dynamic splash painting technique.
The pieces will be on display at the Heni Gallery from Thursday through August 1st.
They are available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting The Ed Sheeran Foundation, which provides music education and opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds.
Sheeran mentioned that he shared his artwork with artist Damien Hirst and Joe Hage, the Heni founder, who encouraged him to pursue the exhibition.
Additionally, he will be performing three sold-out homecoming concerts at Portman Road stadium in Ipswich this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
