Duma Deputy Argues Against WhatsApp Ban in Russia, Citing Lack of Alternatives

State Duma deputy Alexander Yushchenko has expressed his views on the potential blocking of the WhatsApp messenger in Russia. He stated that such a measure would be pointless, as it is unlikely to address the issue of fraud in the country.

Yushchenko also emphasized that in order to justify the blocking of an existing service, a suitable alternative must be offered, which currently does not exist in Russia.

According to the deputy, efforts are underway to develop a Russian messaging application; however, these initiatives are still in the early stages.
