Law enforcement has begun taking protestors into custody during a demonstration opposing the government’s prohibition of the campaign organization Palestine Action.
In Parliament Square in central London, hundreds of individuals have gathered, some brandishing Palestinian flags and chanting “free Palestine.” Others displayed signs reading: “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.”
Officers have been observed removing individuals from the crowd after several protestors indicated their intention to resist arrest by going limp.
Earlier, the Metropolitan Police had cautioned that those expressing support for the group, which has been designated as a terrorist organization, would be subject to arrest.
