Barrios Addresses Conflict Resolution with Sobolev Following Forwards Transfer to Zenit

The midfielder of Zenit, **Wilmar Barrios**, shared insights about his conversation with forward **Alexander Sobolev** following Sobolev’s transfer to the Saint Petersburg club from Spartak in the summer of 2024. It’s worth recalling that during their last match in the group stage of the Fonbet Cup of Russia, which ended in a 0-0 draw and was decided by penalties (4-2) on November 27, 2022, a brawl broke out between the players. Barrios and Sobolev both received red cards, along with other players involved in the scuffle: Malcom, Rodrigo (both from Zenit), and Alexander Selikhov, Shamar Nicholson (both from Spartak).

“We talked about how everything has changed and that now we are teammates. The most important thing is the club’s goals and its success. He no longer wears the colors of his former team but now represents the blue, white, and light blue of Zenit. We discussed moving forward together, and we all have high expectations of him.

He’s really a good guy, a great person. He was welcomed warmly by the team. Although he hasn’t yet reached the level of goals and assists that we expect from him, he trains hard and gives his best effort. I truly believe that his time will come because, as I’ve said, the team needs his contributions, and he understands that and works towards it,” Barrios stated in the latest episode of the YouTube channel “SBG SHOW.”
