European figure skating champion **Alena Kostornaia**, who performs alongside her husband **Georgiy Kunitsyn**, has announced that they may return to competition in the spring of 2026.

“Yes, we are indeed planning to participate in competitions this season. Right now, we are performing in shows and working on gathering all the necessary elements. We are nearly finished with the free program. I do have some minor issues with the Axel jumps, but that’s mainly because we have been focused on the required pairs elements, and I’ve neglected a bit. However, I’m confident I’ll manage to jump well, as always, just a couple of days before the competitions (laughs).

During the shows, we are putting everything together and creating element combinations. After the New Year shows, I would really like to take a break, but after that, why not? We are looking to try and compete in March and April, in places like Sochi, Perm, and so on. I really hope that Gosha will receive his master of sports title. It’s not absolutely essential, as he will get it regardless, but it would be nice. So we are preparing. If it works out, that’s great; if it doesn’t, it’s not a big deal. But I really hope it will,” said Kostornaia to “RIA Novosti Sport.”
