Former Real Madrid midfielder **Wesley Sneijder** commented on the comparisons being made between 18-year-old Barcelona winger **Lamine Yamal** and former Blaugrana forward **Lionel Messi**.

“There have been discussions about whether Lamine Yamal could one day become the next Messi, and here he is at Barcelona — the new Messi. The club will never let him go, and I believe he won’t want to leave. Can Yamal reach Messi’s level or even surpass him? It’s possible. Players improve every year, and he’s already at a very high level,” said Sneijder, as reported by Adventure Gamers.

Messi was a part of the Barcelona system from 2000 to 2021, during which time he won seven Ballon d’Or awards with the club.
