Ukrainian Drones Target Key Oil Refinery in Saratov Amid Ongoing Conflict

Ukrainian drones targeted a significant oil refinery in the southern Saratov region overnight, according to a statement from Ukraine’s military early on Tuesday.

This incident marks the fifth reported strike on the Saratov Oil Refinery this autumn and the seventh attack in total during 2025. The refinery, owned by Rosneft, is a major provider of gasoline and diesel fuels to various regions of European Russia, with an operational capacity of 140,000 barrels per day.

The Ukrainian General Staff indicated that there were a series of explosions followed by a major fire at the refinery, and they noted that the extent of the damage from the latest attacks is still under evaluation.

In response, Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that its air defense systems intercepted 37 Ukrainian drones overnight, including eight in the Saratov region. Civil aviation authorities implemented temporary flight restrictions at the regional airport around midnight and again on Tuesday morning.

Saratov region Governor Roman Busargin reported that the Ukrainian drones caused damage to civilian infrastructure and broke windows in several residences, resulting in one injury.

Busargin mentioned that emergency services are assessing the extent of the damage, and authorities have set up a support center for residents affected in the district where the Saratov Oil Refinery is located. He did not comment on any strikes targeting the refinery itself.

Additionally, Ukraine’s General Staff claimed that its forces targeted a maritime oil terminal and caused damage to fuel storage tanks in the annexed region of Crimea.

Furthermore, reports indicated strikes on Russian supply depots and troop concentrations in the occupied Donetsk region.

Russia’s Defense Ministry also reported intercepting 13 Ukrainian drones over Crimea and the Black Sea.
