A representative of Russia in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), member of the Hall of Fame and the supervisory board of CSKA, **Pavel Bure** commented on the performance of the army club and shared his thoughts on the departure of goaltender Spencer Martin.
— Of course, CSKA should be performing at a higher level. The team is currently going through a transition. A new coach has arrived, bringing his own system. We have faith in the team and support them. Naturally, we would like to see much better results. I believe those results will come. The players are gradually adapting to the new coach and his approach. We will continue to work hard to ensure the team reaches the position it deserves.
**— Today, CSKA has announced the termination of the contract with Canadian goaltender Spencer Martin. Things didn’t work out for him at the army club?**
— Not at all, of course. It’s not just about the unfortunate last goal he conceded. There were some good games from Martin, but others were quite terrible. A goaltender for CSKA needs to be consistently reliable. A quality goalie performs at a high level consistently. However, when your performance fluctuates too much, that’s simply unacceptable, — Bure stated, as quoted by “Match TV.”
