The President of Russia, **Vladimir Putin**, extended his condolences upon the passing of three-time Olympic champion and multiple world champion in artistic gymnastics, **Alexander Dityatin**. The former athlete was 68 years old.
“I offer my heartfelt condolences and sincere words of sympathy and support regarding the death of Alexander Nikolayevich Dityatin. We have lost a three-time Olympic champion and a legendary figure in our nation’s artistic gymnastics. Alexander Dityatin was determined, strong-willed, and had high expectations for himself; this unwavering dedication was the foundation of his remarkable achievements and significant victories. He instilled these same qualities in his many students.
The fond memory of Alexander Nikolayevich Dityatin will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, comrades from Leningrad’s Dynamo, and our national team,” reads a statement on the Kremlin’s website.
