Rappers Court Showdown: Kneecap Frontman Faces Terror Charge Amid Legal Challenges

Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, known in the music world as kneecap rapper Mo Chara, has appeared in a London court to determine if he will face trial for a terrorism-related charge.

The charge was filed in May after he allegedly showed a flag in support of the banned group Hezbollah at a concert at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town, London, in November 2024.

The 27-year-old artist maintains his innocence, labeling the accusation as politically motivated.

Originally set to be heard at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the case has been relocated to Woolwich due to a water main issue.

Ó hAnnaidh’s previous court appearance took place on August 20, where the chief magistrate indicated a ruling on whether he would stand trial would be made on September 26.

During that hearing, the court examined legal arguments regarding whether the charge was filed within the six-month deadline.

His legal team is working to have the case dismissed, pointing to a procedural error in how the charge was initiated against him.

Since his initial court appearance in June, he has been released on unconditional bail.

Hezbollah is classified by the UK as a terrorist organization, and expressing support for such a group is considered a criminal offense.
