FSBR Vice President Analyzes Reasons Behind Russian Wrestlers Defeats at 2025 World Championship

The First Vice President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) and two-time Olympic champion, **Arsen Fadzaev**, commented on the performance of Russian wrestlers at the 2025 World Championship in Zagreb, agreeing that the results were disappointing.

“The federation, coaches, and fans — many are dissatisfied with our current performance. It’s been a long time since Russia returned with just a single gold medal. The absence of Sadulaev is a significant loss; he is the captain and leader of the team. We experienced a swift change in our coaching staff, and the head coach’s role also plays a part.

Many are wondering why our athletes lost in the final seconds of matches. A lot of our competitors were making their debut at such a high-level international event, which undoubtedly had an impact. I believe some seasoned athletes—world champions and Olympic champions—might have been slightly overworked. Losing in the fifth or fourth match at the very end… they appeared fatigued and overwhelmed. It’s possible to not be in peak condition during training camps, but by the time of competition, one should be ready. Being overworked, however, can have detrimental effects,” Fadzaev’s words are reported by **Championat** correspondent Vladimir Chetverik.

Russian athletes secured a total of 11 medals at the tournament (1 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze).
