Rockets Face Restrictions on Free Agent Signings Without Salary Cap Maneuvers

The NBA team Houston Rockets is unable to sign any free agents until they make a trade or engage in other financial adjustments. The team is currently positioned $1.25 million below the initial salary cap. This information was shared by ESPN analyst Bobby Marks on social media.

Marks pointed out that the team could apply for a disabled player exception valued at $14.1 million; however, they will not be able to utilize it due to cap restrictions.

The limitation stems from the injury of point guard Fred VanVleet, who suffered a torn ACL and is likely to miss the entirety of the upcoming season. Currently, the free agent market includes several experienced point guards, such as Russell Westbrook, Ben Simmons, and Patrick Beverley.
