Speedboat Killer Jack Shepherd Reincarcerated: A Second Chance Cut Short

Jack Shepherd, the speedboat killer, has been returned to prison following his release after serving half of his six-year sentence for the death of Charlotte Brown on their initial date.

In December 2015, Ms. Brown tragically fell from Shepherd’s speedboat into the River Thames when it collided with a submerged tree trunk.

According to HM Prison Service, Shepherd violated the conditions of his release more than a year after being set free, though the specifics of the breach were not disclosed.

The service stated, “This case exemplifies our commitment to re-incarcerate offenders who violate their license conditions.”

Before the ill-fated boat ride past the Palace of Westminster, Ms. Brown and Shepherd had been enjoying champagne together.

While Shepherd was rescued from the Thames, Ms. Brown was discovered unconscious and later died in the hospital.

Originally from Exeter, Shepherd fled the scene and was later convicted of manslaughter due to gross negligence in absentia during a 2018 trial at the Old Bailey.

He eventually surrendered to authorities in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 2019, and was extradited back to the UK, where he received an additional four-year sentence for assaulting a bartender, to be served concurrently with his six-year term.

In response to Shepherd’s return to custody, Ms. Brown’s father, Graham, expressed to the Sun: “He’s where he belongs.

“He has never shown any remorse for the role he played in my daughter’s death.

“I think of her daily; the agony is always present.

“I will never forgive him and continue to believe he is a danger to women.”
