A newcomer to Moscow’s PFC CSKA, João Victor, shared insights about his conflict with the fans of his former club, Vasco da Gama. The misunderstanding with the supporters was one of the factors that contributed to Victor’s departure from the Brazilian team.

— It didn’t take me long to accept the offer from CSKA. It came at a time when I was under significant pressure due to the situation with my previous club. I wanted to move on. Players I knew informed me that I could be a great asset to CSKA, and that the club could also benefit me. It was a straightforward decision that I made quickly. Ultimately, I achieved what I and my family desired.

— There was a lot of talk about your conflict with the Vasco fans—can you elaborate on what happened?
— It was more of a misunderstanding. However, it wasn’t related to football—it stemmed from events off the pitch.

— Did this push you to leave the club?
— Yes, it was a reason, but not the main one. I was more eager to explore new opportunities and start playing in a different league. This desire to breathe fresh air and embrace a new challenge influenced my decision to leave Vasco da Gama more than the fans’ misunderstanding did.

— Recently, Santos fans also had issues with the team and were upset with Neymar. Is this common among Brazilian supporters?
— Yes, it’s part of Brazilian culture. Unfortunately, local fans often think they have control over the club. I believe that everything will be fine at CSKA; the fans here are fantastic.

— What message do you have for Vasco fans now?
