Russian actress Aglaya Tarasova was apprehended at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow and is facing charges of drug smuggling, according to reports from media outlets on Friday.
An anonymous law enforcement official informed the state news agency TASS that cannabis oil was found in her vape pen. Another source reported to RIA Novosti that the detected quantity of cannabis oil was 0.38 grams.
On Friday, investigators requested that the Domodedovsky City Court place the 31-year-old Tarasova under house arrest, as reported by the Kommersant business publication.
Tarasova is known for her performances in the hit television series “Interns” and the 2017 romantic drama “Ice,” and if found guilty of drug smuggling, she could face a maximum prison sentence of 7 years.
There is some inconsistency regarding the timing of her arrest. Telegram channels affiliated with Russian law enforcement suggested that she was detained “two days ago,” while Ksenia Sobchak’s media outlet Ostorozhno Novosti claimed she was arrested on August 28 after returning from Tel Aviv while attempting to go through customs.
Notably, Tarasova is the daughter of actress Ksenia Rappoport, who has openly criticized Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
