A homeless man has admitted to murdering a woman in west London, using a mallet to fatally assault her just days after she offered him shelter.
Victoria Adams, 37, was discovered dead in her Hammersmith apartment on February 9, following police reports about a man trying to break into a residence on Coulter Road.
Apapale Adoum, 39, was apprehended at the location. He had met Ms. Adams on February 6 while staying in a homeless shelter.
Authorities found Ms. Adams lying face down in her bedroom, her head covered by a pillow and a bin bag. An investigation revealed she had suffered over ten blunt force injuries to the back and side of her head, inflicted by what is believed to be the mallet that contained her blood and DNA.
Despite inviting Adoum to stay, she had subsequently penned a note asking him to leave.
At the Old Bailey, Judge Nigel Lickley KC informed the defendant, “A conviction for murder results in a life sentence, which I will impose on October 24.”
Adoum has been taken into custody.
