Approximately 100 firefighters fought a blaze at a residential building in south-east London for over 14 hours, according to the London Fire Brigade (LFB).

The fire affected the first, second, and third floors, as well as the roof, of the flat complex located on Hatcham Park Mews in New Cross.

The LFB reported that it received alerts about the fire shortly before 4:30 PM BST on Wednesday and managed to bring it under control by 6:48 AM on Thursday.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Several local residents were evacuated from their homes and workplaces to a nearby rest center.

Station commander Patrick Ackroyd commented, “The blaze produced a significant amount of smoke, especially near the intersection of New Cross Road and Queens Road.

He urged individuals living or working in the vicinity to keep their windows and doors shut.

Ackroyd also noted that the fire led to “considerable traffic disruptions” and advised drivers to steer clear of the area.
