A woman has been accused of attacking a security guard at a hotel accommodating migrants after it was reported that one of the residents entered her apartment, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The individual, a migrant in his early 20s, has also been taken into custody on charges of assault, the police indicated.
On Wednesday, videos emerged online showing a man walking into a residence after being instructed “to return to the hotel.” He was subsequently apprehended by bystanders in the vicinity.
According to the Metropolitan Police, 22-year-old Channay Augustus faces multiple charges, including possession of an offensive weapon, affray, assault of an emergency worker, common assault, and possession of cannabis. She is a resident of the apartment that was intruded upon.
The charges of affray and common assault are linked to a clash at the Britannia Hotel in Canary Wharf later that same evening, the police reported.
This hotel has been the site of protests in recent weeks.
The alleged victim of the common assault is identified as a security guard at the hotel, the Met confirmed.
Ms. Augustus, from Tower Hamlets, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Officers arrested the migrant in the early hours of Friday in Hackney on suspicion of common assault.
“We can confirm that this is the individual who allegedly entered the flat,” a statement confirmed.
He remains in police custody.
