The head of the NHL Players’ Association, **[Marty Walsh](https://www.example.com)**, commented on the extension of the collective bargaining agreement.

“When I began my work with the union two and a half years ago, discussions about the negotiations for the agreement commenced right away. One of my first meetings with Gary Bettman focused on whether there was a way to incorporate the evolving nature of hockey into the collective agreement.

We talked about the Four Nations Tournament, the Olympics, the World Cup, and all the exciting events happening in our sport. We thought it might be beneficial to move this process forward. We have had very productive discussions with the league, and Gary has already mentioned it. While we didn’t reach consensus on everything, there were no major disagreements. Our primary focus was on how to stay current and progress,” Walsh said, as quoted by the NHL website.

The NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL) have agreed to extend the collective bargaining agreement for an additional four years, which will remain in effect until the 2029/2030 season.
