Nursery Nightmare: Caregiver Found Guilty of Shocking Abuse Against 21 Infants

A 22-year-old nursery employee has been found guilty of mistreating 21 infants, which included kicking one young boy in the face and stepping on his shoulder.

Roksana Lecka, who hails from Hounslow in west London, pleaded guilty to seven charges of cruelty towards minors under 16 and a jury at Kingston Crown Court convicted her on an additional 14 charges, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Her abusive behavior came to light in June of the previous year after she was sent home for pinching several children and exhibiting signs of being “flustered” at the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, located in south-west London, as stated by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Jemma Till, a solicitor from Irwin Mitchell, noted that the families affected have been left “traumatized.”

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police reviewed CCTV footage from the nursery that recorded her pinching and scratching children beneath their clothing—on their arms, legs, and stomachs.

On one occasion, she pinched multiple children multiple times in a single day, prompting cries and flinches from them, reported the CPS.

In one shocking instance, she kicked a little boy in the face multiple times. She was also recorded pushing infants headfirst over cribs and covering a toddler’s mouth when he began to cry.

The Metropolitan Police indicated that she had engaged in child abuse at two different nurseries from October 2023 to June 2024—one of the charges pertains to Little Munchkins in Hounslow, while the rest involve Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, which has since been shut down.

Detective Sergeant Geoff Boye commented, “Footage displayed Lecka executing numerous assaults on the children in her care, including persistent pinching and grabbing, as well as dropping babies into their cribs. On one occasion, she kicked a young boy in the face multiple times and stepped on his shoulder.”

Lecka admitted to consuming cannabis before her shifts and was even spotted vaping just a meter away from an infant.

Detective Inspector Sian Hutchings stated, “These families entrusted Lecka with their children, relying on her to safeguard them, just as the other nursery staff did.”

“The footage depicting her crimes against defenseless children was deeply troubling.”

She worked at Riverside Nursery from January to June 2024, with several parents noting unusual injuries and bruising in their children during March and May of that year.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Gemma Burns remarked that Lecka had displayed “exceptional cruelty” towards the infants.

“No parent should have to fear leaving their child in the hands of caregivers, yet the magnitude of her abuse is astonishing,” she added.

Lecka’s sentencing is scheduled for September 26 at Kingston Crown Court.
