The Metropolitan Police have stated that a man who passed away weeks after tumbling down an escalator in London was not the victim of a push.
Following a request for information, the family of Ian Airlie reached out to detectives, mentioning that he had reported being pushed while on the Jubilee line escalator at Waterloo station.
Mr. Airlie, 48 years old, was discovered deceased in his residence in Greenwich, southeast London, on October 10 of the previous year.
Law enforcement officials have reviewed CCTV footage of the incident and concluded that it depicted Mr. Airlie’s fall as an accidental occurrence.
Detective Inspector Chris Rogers emphasized that investigators have ruled out the possibility of Mr. Airlie being pushed.
“The incident on the escalator was an extremely tragic accident.
“Nonetheless, the circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, and we will pursue all leads until we have a comprehensive understanding of the situation.”
A post-mortem examination yielded inconclusive results, and additional testing is currently underway.
